Geo-political Risk
Ann-Nina is a seasoned geostrategic communications advisor with over 25 years of experience across multinational corporations, government, and the NGO sector. She specializes in a 360-degree approach to geopolitics, strategic communications, and stakeholder management, with expertise spanning retail, energy, foreign affairs, government, and media.
Previously, Ann-Nina served as Global Senior Vice President for Public Affairs at Burson, advising multinational clients on high-level geopolitical and geoeconomic matters. She also led global public affairs at Ingka (IKEA Group), overseeing public affairs teams across 30+ markets. Prior to that, she directed corporate communications and political affairs for E.ON in the Nordic countries and Poland.
Ann-Nina also has experience from regional politics and spent nearly 15 years in journalism, including roles as a war correspondent and national anchor. She holds a Master’s degree in history and political science from Åbo Akademi University, Finland, and is fluent in English, Swedish, and Finnish.
Financial Risk
Huseyin Iskender Karagul is a financial risk management advisor with over 20 years of experience in banking, investment, and consulting across Europe. He is the founder of Amaranth Brose, a consultancy specializing in enterprise risk management, financial advisory, and training for SMEs and corporates involved in high-risk activities such as lending, exporting, and manufacturing.
Huseyin has a Ph.D. in Banking and Finance and has contributed to regulatory compliance, risk analytics, and enterprise risk strategies. His expertise spans market risk, credit risk modeling, stress testing, and capital optimization. He has advised financial institutions and corporates on building resilient risk frameworks, leveraging data-driven insights, and aligning with regulatory expectations.
Currently based in the Netherlands, Huseyin provides fractional advisory services, risk assessment tools, and training programs to help businesses navigate uncertainty.
He is also developing innovative digital solutions, including AI-driven financial risk tools and blockchain-based applications for risk transparency.
Beyond his consultancy work, Huseyin actively shares his insights through blogs, e-books, and courses designed to enhance financial literacy and risk awareness.

Barry J. McLoughlin is a recognized leader in Risk and Crisis Communications, helping executives, government leaders, and organizations navigate high-stakes situations with clarity, confidence, and credibility. With over four decades of experience, he has trained and coached CEOs, senior executives, and political leaders to communicate effectively in moments of uncertainty, controversy, and crisis.
As the founder and President of TLC Transformational Leadership Consultants Inc., Ottawa, Canada and Washington DC. Barry has guided organizations through some of their most challenging communications landscapes, from corporate crises to public policy controversies. His expertise lies in preparing leaders to anticipate risks, manage public perception, and craft messages that instill trust even in the face of adversity.
A highly sought-after speaker, trainer, and consultant, Barry has delivered over 5000 seminars across North America, equipping leaders with practical tools to handle tough media scrutiny, engage stakeholders in critical conversations, and mitigate reputational risks.
A graduate of Harvard University (M.P.A.), Barry is also the author of the Communicate with Power® pocket tips series, including Leadership in Times of Risk, Encountering the Media® and Leadership in Times of Crisis, offering concise, real-world strategies for leaders facing high-pressure situations.
Barry is an adjunct instructor at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa and the Shannon School of Business, Cape Breton University.
Reputation Risk
I have an MA in communications from the Centre for Mass Communications Research at the University of Leicester, UK as a Chevening Scholar. I've had the privilege of gaining extensive experience in leadership roles within the corporate, NGO, and public sectors.
My professional journey includes serving as the Group Corporate Communications Manager at Woolworths and later as the Director of Communications at the Nelson Mandela Foundation. I also had the honour of working in the Speaker's office in Parliament during Nelson Mandela's presidency.
Currently, I serve as the CEO of Hewers, a niche market consultancy specialising in crisis communication and reputation risk management. Additionally, I am a board member of the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, an organisation promoting the legacy of Nobel laureate, Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
I am one of the founding members of the Centre for Analytics and Behavioural Change and also represent South Africa and the English-speaking African countries at the International Association of Risk and Crisis Communication (IARCC). My authority in communications is built from extensive experience, scholarly rigour, a relentless dedication to excellence and an unwavering commitment to using communications to forge a better world.
Leadership training
Laura M. Peck. B.A., B.Ed. H.K.E.E. Vice President, TLC Transformational Leadership Consultants Inc. began her career as a teacher and radio and television broadcaster with CBC and private radio in Cape Breton and a Chief of Staff on Parliament Hill. For over three decades, Laura has been a communications consultant and seminar leader and appears as a media analyst for the CBC, CTV, Global TV, The Vassy Kapelos Show, CityNews as well as online media outlets across North America.
Laura has conducted numerous Risk & Crisis Communications training programs for corporations, government agencies and national associations across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and Europe. Laura is a chapter author of the Oxford University Press book 'Public Speaking in Canada: Building Competencies in Stages'.
She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Bachelor of Education Degree from Dalhousie University. Laura is a graduate of the Executive Development Program, The Art and Practice of Leadership Development at the Harvard Kennedy School in 2004 and she graduated from the Harvard Business School, Certificate programs Teaching the Case Study Method I and II in 2013 and 2014.
Laura is a recipient of the Award of Distinction from ‘Women in Communications’. Laura has been a Faculty Lecturer with the Shannon School of Business at Cape Breton University since 2019, where she teaches Strategic Communications in the Master of Business Administration and Community Development program.
She lectures at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, in the Executive Security and Intelligence Certificate Program. As well, she teaches a course on Risk and Crisis Communications in an Age of Disinformation for the University of Ottawa’s Professional Development Institute.

The IARCC Board is elected every three years and consists of volunteers with many years of experience in the field, often specialising in Emergency Risk and/or Crisis Communication. They come from academia, the private and public sectors and non-profit associations and represent the diversity of IARCC members from around the world.
President & Founder
Herbert Koch founded the International Association of Risk and Crisis Communication in May 2013.
As president of the Association he commissioned and led research projects in cooperation with the French engineers school Arts et Métiers ParisTech, gave lectures and presentations at various conferences such as the Chosun Forum on Crisis Management in Seoul, South Korea or at the Emergency, Rescue and Safety Management Exhibition and Conference in Sofia, Bulgaria.
He published the online publication The Journal of Risk and Crisis Communication.
Herbert Koch started his career in communication as Senior Consultant and owner of de concert communication, a communication agency founded and domiciled in Paris, France, from 2004 until 2014.
Since 2014, the agency has been based in Zurich, Switzerland. Parallel to his activities in communication, Herbert Koch works as an independent legal consultant for HMK Law in Zurich, Switzerland.

He began his career as an on-air broadcast journalist in Canada, specializing in political and current affairs. This foundation in journalism seamlessly transitioned into senior communication roles within the Government of Canada, where he served as a communications advisor at both senior and Cabinet levels, adeptly managing reputational challenges and navigating high-stakes policy issues.
Andre’s profound passion for risk communications drives him to share valuable insights on geopolitical and ESG risks across social media platforms. In today’s rapidly evolving risk landscape, trust is essential.
